Transform Yourself
Mrs. Mary BaxterTen years ago I was running the family business. Physically, I was a wreck – I had many problems with my back and my joints and could only walk about 100 metres. I weighed about 22 stone (140 kg) and was not very strong psychologically.
I was in the process of selling the business, and studying for an MBA to begin the transition from that life to something new. Over the next eight years I made great strides in reinventing myself. I completed my MBA, and embarked on a regime to strengthen my body and manage my physical problems. I became fitter and stronger, and a little bit thinner! I also became more settled in my mind, and became certain that I had chosen the right path to the future.
My search for ways to improve myself as a consultant led me to NLP. This is a set of tools and techniques developed by studying success which help people to improve their performance by becoming aware of how they do what they do. This heightened awareness enabled me to understand a little bit about HOW I managed to stay so big. I lost stones and stones, but at a certain point, I always seemed to fall apart, and was soon back where I started. It was such a pattern that there had to be something in it for me at some very deep level, otherwise why would I keep doing it?
About a year ago I received an email out of the blue about The Body transformation Workshop. I knew instantly that this was the key to achieving the goal I have worked so very hard for, for so long, to no avail. I eventually attended the workshop last November.
It is hard to say just how it changed my life, but it did; subtly and utterly.
How did it do that? Well, for a start, I joined weight watchers the very next week, which gave me a structure and support for eating healthily and sensibly. That was a good start, but if that had been all, I wouldn’t have achieved very much.
During the workshop, I built a very clear picture of what it is that I am going to achieve. I can see what I will look like when I reach my goal. I can see the admiring looks on people’s faces, I can see the clothes I am going to look terrific in, and I can see the smile on my face as I catch sight of myself in mirrors as I walk about.
I can also feel what it’s going to be like to move around in this new body – supple and lithe like an athlete, moving gracefully, dancing energetically, walking for miles with my dog effortlessly and feeling truly and deeply comfortable in my own skin. I can feel the joy of being able to slip into an aircraft seat with inches to spare, being able to go into a shop and try on lots of different clothes in a size 12. I can feel the sensuous sensation silk on my skin as I wear the sexy underwear I shall treat myself to.
I can also hear the admiring tone of people’s voices as they compliment me on my new slim figure, can hear the laughter in my voice as I chat happily, just enjoying being me.
But it was much much more than just reinforcing my goal. So what else did I learn?
I learned how I was tripping myself up – what beliefs I held that were undermining my efforts. I learned techniques to help me change unwanted behaviour. I came to understand the person I truly wanted to be. And still this would not have been enough to bring about the changes I have made. So what else was there?
I had to delve deeper, and seek out that part of me that was so hurt, so sad and miserable that eventually she undermined all my efforts by demanding to be comforted. I found that part of me, acknowledged and embraced her so that she felt heard and accepted, and became integrated into my new self, happy now and at peace. I found a new alignment within myself, and developed a new identity – I am no longer a fat person. I am now a slim person who is, as yet, carrying around a little extra baggage.
So far, I have lost over three stone. By my sixtieth birthday next year, I shall have lost another five stone to reach my goal. I exercise regularly and feel terrific. I have far more energy and nobody can believe I’m in my sixtieth year. My new business as a business consultant and coach has taken off, and I am happier than I can ever remember.
The Body Transformation Workshop played a very big part in transforming my life, and it could do the same for you.
